Finding Your Niche as a Heart-Centered Coach

Hey, heart-centered coach!

You’ve heard all the marketing experts talk about finding your NICHE — that special segment of the market YOU serve, and the unique service you offer the world.

So you know it’s a MUST for building a thriving practice!

But you also want a niche that feels true to you, and aligned with your gifts and passions.

So let’s take a look at YOUR ideal niche, and how to carve out a profitable, perfectly you-shaped space for yourself in the online world…

1. Choose a mission that inspires you!

Having a clear mission at the heart of your business will give you direction, clarity, and a sense of purpose that guides your decisions! Over time, it will be a beacon, and a source of inspiration and deep motivation that keeps you going even on tough days.

You deserve to feel LIT UP by a mission you believe in.

If you’re not sure exactly what your mission is, consider the world you’re in! What would YOU change about it, if it were 100% up to you?

What is the future you want to help create? How will the world be made a better place through your work with your clients?

For example: I believe the world will be a better place when there are more leaders with compassion and heart — when the next generation has personal heroes who are not only confident and successful, but who also care about others.

That’s why I’ve chosen this niche of serving heart-centered coaches and entrepreneurs! Because I know that compassionate leaders can help steer and guide all of us in a more positive direction. It’s the mission that lights me up and inspires me every day.

So friend, what’s YOUR mission? What’s the thing you get up each day to do, because you believe in it and want to create a better future?

2. Serve customers you care about

As a heart-centered coach, you’ll be working with, serving, and supporting your clients closely! So it’s important that your clients are people you’re excited and inspired to serve.

So, who most needs your unique style of coaching and guidance?

If you’ve already been working with clients, think about the relationships and conversations you’ve enjoyed most.

Were there common threads among them? Were there personality traits or values you shared with your client? What breakthroughs have been the most exciting and rewarding for you to help facilitate?

find the people you’re most passionate about serving.

If you haven’t worked with clients yet, think about the journey you’ve been on and who stands to benefit most from your experience and lessons you’ve learned.

Of course, you CAN coach anyone — even Oprah! And coaching isn’t about telling people what to do, or imposing your opinions on them.

But in certain areas — career, relationships, business, wellness, and so on — you do bring deep wisdom, empathy, and insight that can multiply the value of your coaching AND be a huge value-add for the right clients.

3. Share a message you believe in!

Many of us start a coaching business and think of marketing and selling as necessary evils — stuff we’d rather outsource, so we can focus on what we love: working with clients!

But here’s the truth: marketing doesn’t have to be a drag — it can actually be a SERVICE to the world, if you’re focused on sharing a message you believe in.

Think about your favorite author or thought leader. Maybe it’s Mel Robbins, or Brene Brown, or Gabby Bernstein…

They all promote their businesses by creating content that lights them up, sharing a message they believe in, and taking a stand for something they’re passionate about!

“marketing” can be about sharing a message on your heart.

Coaches, consultants, and change-makers can also use this approach to build a community of people who LOVE what they’re all about… and make the world a better place too.

Supporting my clients around this important work is among my favorite things I do as a business coach & mentor! And it’s amazing what getting clarity on this ONE piece can do for the resonance and power of your marketing.

So, what’s the message or truth YOU are most passionate about sharing?

4. Do work that lights you up!

One of my favorite questions to ask my clients is this: If you won the lottery tomorrow, would you still want to do this work? Why?

Sometimes I see a look of hesitation, and hear a “There’s something else I’d rather be doing” response. Following that spark can be an eye-opening conversation for both of us!

Other times, their whole face lights up, and they start telling me the REAL reason they love this work. The big heart they have for the people they serve.

For most of my clients, it’s not just about the money — it’s about the process, and the rewarding experience of seeing their clients transform and succeed at their biggest goals.

You deserve to do work that energizes + inspires you.

There is work YOU are here to do in this world that no one else can do quite like you. And that’s where your offers, services, and products come in! This is something I go deep into with my clients.

So think about your favorite parts of what you do, and your favorite moments from your coaching career so far. How you can make those the centerpiece of your offers — and do more of what you truly LOVE?

5. Sell an offer that makes an impact!

Speaking of doing what you love — most of my clients aren’t just in love with their process… they’re also inspired, energized, and gain a deep sense of fulfillment from seeing the IMPACT of their work.

However you want to wordsmith it, coaching is about transforming lives. It’s about making dramatic change possible for your clients.

And over time, as a coach you will build a legacy of change that you’re proud of, and that you can look back on with a sense of contribution and fulfillment.

How’s that for career satisfaction??

That “I made a real difference” feeling isn’t everyone’s main priority! But for the heart-centered coach, purpose and meaning are critical.

You deserve a legacy you’re proud of.

So, what impact are YOU passionate about seeing happen in people’s lives? What do you want to look back on and see as your legacy, after your very last coaching session?
